The Best Laid Plans (open)

After nine o'clock on a Monday night wasn't a particularly popular time for hanging around the Olympic sized swimming pool on the campus of Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning. Tonight was on the chillier side, too, to make people more scarce. Not far from the pool, a basketball game was ending and the players were all recapping their favourite moves and failures. Otherwise, it was pretty quiet.

Passed out on a poolside lounge chair, Katrina's head lilted one side limply and bobbed slightly. One of her arms was draped across her stomach, the other rested an inch away from the book that had fallen open on her lap as she'd fallen asleep a few hours ago. The sunglasses she'd been wearing fell off of her face an hour ago and now rested on the ground next to her chair.

It had been one of her longer days, she'd trained hard, even studied hard (and she hated studying, she didn't get it, but the book she'd picked up on Mr. Forge's recommendation for Mysticism and magic was a really good read.) Logan had given her a real run for her money that morning, Drama class had been all about movement and motivation on an advanced level, Mr. Summers' class was excruciatingly boring as he'd gone off on some ranting lecture about what it meant to really lead and she wouldn't let Gambit see how tired she was,so she went all out with her personal training. So, naturally when she decided to bother slowing down to read a book by the pool, her body took the hint her mind wouldn't and shut down. Luckily, nobody had bothered her or felt the need to prank her. She'd had a problem with that once or twice. Falling asleep in public wasn't a common thing for her, but the once or twice she'd done it before, some younger kids or some smartass her own age had just seen an opportunity. Today, she'd been allowed to sleep in peace and was certainly going to be the better for it.

Kole was picking up a late night snack in the cafeteria, when he sat down by the window he noticed a familiar shade of purple laying in a chair by the pool. Even though it was close to 9 at night he had no trouble recognizing her with his enhanced night vision, so he finished his snack and teleported down to the pool area.

Just as he was about to greet her he noticed that she was out cold. He grinned for a moment, this was too perfect. He looked around and tried to decide what to do but most of the pool stuff was already away. All that was left was a towel that someone forgot and a bucket. His first thought was to dump a bucket of water on her, but she was fully clothed so that was just mean. He decided to use the towel instead.

He shadow melded so he would not make any noise, then went to the other side of the pool to get the towel. He dipped it in the water and while still shadow melding he crawled behind the chair kat was lying in. As he got closer he felt a strange serenity wash over him as kat's uncontrolled powers hit him, "she must be having a good dream" he thought then he tried to focus on what he was doing. fighting back her influence (witch he was only able to do because she was asleep and un focused) he stood up behind her an held out the towel, but as he did he accidentally kicked the bottom of the chair. He froze hoping she would not wake, but no such luck....

Kat sat bolt upright, catching the wet towel directly in her face. She gasped and sputtered a little on the water. Her book fell out of her lap just before the towel fell onto her legs. She coughed a bit and used her hands to wipe her face. Turning in her chair, she saw her teammate and seethed, exhaling heavily out of her nose.

"KOLE!!" She growled. "What the fuck is wrong with you?!" She wasn't awake enough to be in full control of her abilities, so she projected her rage somewhat outward.

Kole knew better than to be around her when she was like this. So he instinctively teleported out of range of her uncontrolled powers, to the other side of the pool area as soon as she screamed his name.

He caught a brief flash of rage before he left her side, but he calmed down as soon has he arrived at his destination.

"sorry that wasn't supposed to happen!" he yelled across to her "now please calm down!"

Kat rubbed her face and threw the towel hard in no specific direction, just away from herself.

"Goddamnit, Kole," she grumbled angrily as she sat upright. She bent over to collect her fallen book and brushed it off, inspecting it for damage. She opened her mouth to respond to him but stopped. It was an olympic sized swimming pool. She was not shouting over it. But really, not supposed to happen, did he really think she bought that?

She looked around, what time was it? It was dark, hadn't it been bright out when she'd sat down to read. It had been after seven sure, so maybe it wasn't light for long. She checked her cell phone for the time and sighed. She'd check the mirror later to make sure no one had drawn anything on her. She rubbed her eyes and tried to wake up a little more and stop being irritated.

"I was planning on just squezeing some water on to your face," Shade yelled "it was ganna be funny. Now please calm down!"

If Rose didnt calm down soon her powers would reach him where he was the he would just have to leave her to simmer.

Kat stared across the pool at Kole like he was an idiot. She really didn't feel like shouting across the damn pool, but she was going to have to. She rolled her eyes, cupped her hands around the side of her mouth and hollered back to him.

"I AM CALM!" Ish, the thought to herself. She was still groggy and irritated as fuck, but she had her powers under control now. She tried to recall the dream she'd been having, remembering little, but knowing it had at least been pleasant. Instead, her mind lingered on Kole's words. Was he completely mental? Water on her face was supposed to be funny. That wasn't supposed to make her mad? What if he'd gotten her book wet? She'd have murdered him. Right were he stood, just dropped him dead.

She fumed for a bit but kept herself under control, muttering a bit as she ran her fingers through her hair to work through the knotting that had formed at the base of her skull, she hated her hair sometimes.

Kole approach apprehensively staying ready to teleport away at the slightest sing of a sudden mood change

"you ok, I thought I heard something crack when you sat up."

[Katrina "Black Rose" Richards]

"I'm fine, you're just a jackass," Kat replied without any real venom, just irritation. She made a grumpy face at him before rolling her eyes and shaking her head. At least he was apologizing and asking after her well being. Better than he used to be.

"You're lucky you didn't get my book wet...." She sighed a little and rubbed her eyes. "What time is it?"

"its after nine, why? ..... how long have you been out here?"

[Katrina "Black Rose" Richards]

Kat sighed and thought about it.

"Uhm....Finished up with Mr. Lebeau around....six. Showered. Changed. Got a book and..." She paused. "Last time I checked the time it was close to seven?" She groaned in annoyance. She'd missed the regular dinner hour. But she had made sure to eat breakfast and lunch. Training with Logan on an empty stomach was suicidal and training with Gambit on an empty stomach was ill advised, too.

She found herself realizing she wasn't actually hungry, so she'd worry about food later. She had some snacks in her room in a worst case scenario. She shook off the annoyance and stretched her arms over her head and her legs out in front of her, arching her back to try to get everything moving again.

"Sometimes I think Logan actually wants me dead..." she muttered, realizing that tomorrow's day would end with Survival class with him as well. What a way to start her week. She winced hard as the muscles in her arms legs screamed in pain.

"I know what you mean, I'm still sore from his close combat class on thursday. it was kinda hard to do well In my stealth training with Nightcrawler when I was groaning in pain with every step." Shade thought about his class load for tomorrow "luckily tomorrow is an easy day for me, I got ethics drama and poetry. and I think all we are doing in drama tomorrow is talking about the play we are reading"
then Kole realized Rose had missed dinner "have you eaten dinner yet? The caff is about to close."

"No, but I'm not really hungry? If I get that way later I've got snacks." She shrugged. Kole was always hungry. Kat's appetite, like everything else in her life, fluctuated with seeming randomness. She paused and suddenly realized that it was an awfully odd hour for anyone to be around, let alone around the pool so...

"Kole....why were you walking around after nine at night?" She tilted her head sideways and up a little to look at him and raise one violet brow.

"I was grabbing a bite to eat in the caff, when I spotted you out of a window."
Kole sat down in a pool chair "I was bored, so I thought I would come see what you were up to."
