Shade was waiting just out side the subway station for the others on his team. he had gotten in to the city a 2 hours before the others due to the combined fact that he had gotten out of class before them and that he had teleported straight to the sub way as apposed to taking two buses to it. he had gotten most of his shopping done, except for a few things that he wanted a second opinion on.
He was so glad to finally have some income from his new welding job down at the docks. it was tough work but great money. Now he could finally afford some of the stuff he had wanted for a while. sometimes I wonder if Geo realizes how lucky he is not to have to worry about money he thought
As people walked by he could hear bits and pieces of the conversations they were having, most were mundane but a few interesting bits about a club called "the Rogue Hand" maybe I can convince the rest of the group to check it out with me later he thought. then he heard some talk of ANOTHER mutant hate group popping up in the city "great thats just what we need" he mumbled he decided to keep an ear out for more info and report to Xaiver when he got back.

Kat hiked her sling bag up on her shoulder as she walked confidently into the subway. She couldn't help but have a bit of a spring in her step and a smile playing at the corners of her lips. Which were glossed. In fact, she was also wearing concealer, eye shadow and liner, even a hint of blush. Her tank top was fashionable, colourful and low cut. Her skirt was short and pleated, purple leggings covering her legs and her knee-high motorcycle boots had a slight heel.
It wasn't exactly Kat's everyday look. She'd been vague about her plans for the day before agreeing to meet the others in the city, and she found herself bursting to tell them now that it was over. She ran over the possible reactions in her head as she walked, playing with phrasing. It wasn't so much that she needed to plan what she was going to say, it was just that she had a strange habit of imagining how conversations might happen. She spent most of her time when walking alone, having her next planned conversation in her head like a mini play. That or playing out little scenes involving one of her many fictional characters having interactions with other fictional characters. Which reminded her-distracting her from the possible future news telling thoughts-it was still her post with Dez. She'd write it up tonight...probably, it was hard to figure out what to do next in their RP.
She shook her head a little when she turned the corner to see Kole waiting for them. She didn't see the others. Good, that meant she wasn't late...or at least not very late. Or at least not the most late.
She quickened her step and sort of half jogged bouncily over to him.
"Hey, Kole! Where's everyone else?" [/blockquote]

Kole was just finishing up imagining how a fight would go between himself and various other known mutants in the world. He like to do this when he was bored because it help him think of what strategies might or might not work against different people. just as he was about half way though a fight with Spite he saw purple hair bouncing over some of the heads of the crowded street an a moment later rose stood before him.
"Hey Rose, Nice digs" said Kole "they ant here yet, whats with the getup?"

Digs? Did he really say nice digs? Wow. What was that even? He was probably teasing her again. Fuck him, she looked good.
Kat smirked at his question. "What, can't a girl wanna look nice for a night on the town with her friends?" She wasn't a bad liar. In fact, she was a pretty great liar if necessary. However, she wasn't trying to convince him, she was trying to make him curious. She flashed a mischievous grin before quickly putting on a faux innocent smile and a shrug. [/blockquote]

"No that's fine, but you look like you got a hot date or something." Kole Knew that Kat rarely if ever dressed like this so it was a bit odd to see her this way. Usually both Rose and Kole dressed practically. They knew that with all the mutant hate groups out there shit could go down any minute. especially if your noticeably a mutant. That along with his light sensitivity is why Kole hides his eyes behind his aviator sunglasses.
"Either that or your trying to get a hot date."
finally he thought, Kat was the only member of his team who (as far as he could tell) had never gotten laid.
"If that's the case I just heard of this club/ bar called the "Rogue Hand" was thinking once we got tired of walking around the city we could check it out, and you could find yourself a man."
then he leaned in to whisper in her ear "I also heard that ANOTHER anti-mutant group has formed in the area, so keep an eye out for anyone looking at us funny."
Then he thought if there is trouble I hope Geo and sin get here first

Kat scoffed a little at Kole's suggestion that she looked like she was ready for a date. She rolled her eyes dramatically at the suggestion that she "get herself a man."
"Heh, no, I'm fine, thanks....But the Rogue Hand? Sounds more like a casino or something than a club ..." She thought it was kind of funny, the idea of going to a place with "Rogue" in the name, considering it was one of her favourite mentors' name. At the mention of a new mutant hate group, she made a face and shook her head.
"I heard about that earlier today, actually. They sound pretty fringe, doesn't seem like anyone's taking them very seriously, humans included. But you're right, better safe than sorry." [/blockquote]

Shade thought for a moment trying to remember the exact thing he heard.... "No, I'm pretty sure its a bar. I guess we can figure it out if we check it out later."
"Honestly the fact they aren't being taken seriously just makes them more likely to pull some shit to try and prove themselves. I mean no one fucks with the F.O.H. or the Purifiers because they've proven that their willing to do some crazy shit." then Kole decide to switch to a less morbid topic. "any way,...... any shopping you wanna get done today?"

Angel loved going into the city. Nothing against the gorgeous Xavier campus, but Christ it was nice be outside of that bubble. Taking a page from her playlist, she was decked out in all black, everything. Black skinny jeans, black mid-calf boots, low cut black long-sleeve and black hoodie to top it off. Hell, she'd even gone through the trouble to do some smokey eye makeup - figured a night on the town was worth it.
The ride to the subway was uneventful, if you didn't count the excitement of going out getting to her. She'd caught a guy staring at her on the bus down and she winked, smiling impishly at him as she got off to meet the rest of the Misfits. She spotted a familiar crown of purple hair and sidled up to her target.
"Everyone, stay calm..." she made the palms down, placating gesture. She then stood straight, exaggerating her half-serious preening.
"The Angel has arrived."

Ray had spent a lot of time in the city. Even before he lived at the Institute, he would travel to New York with his dad on some of his many business trips. Ray wasn't one to pass up a free dinner at one of the city's great restaurants. The upscale hotel rooms weren't so bad, either.
His occasions for venturing into the city now were more personal than anything else. The Misfits usually tried to make it into the city at least once a month, but Ray tended to make the trip down with a little more frequency.
The Institute was quiet and beautiful, but sometimes it was hard to find privacy there. You can never quite be sure who might be watching, or listening for that matter. Even with the eight-million people that populated the city, it was much easier to find the kind of privacy and anonymity that Ray wanted from time to time.
Tonight, though, was different. Everyone knew that Ray had an unbreakable bond with Victoria Daugherty, the leader of the Wayfarers Squad, and she had only ever seen the city once before coming to the Institute. Mirror, as she was commonly known to the other students, was raised in a small town and had asked Ray to take her into the city and show her all the stuff that a tourist wouldn't really know about. As much as Ray loved hanging out with Misfists, he did enjoy the times he could spend alone with Mirror.
Ray's attire tonight was little different than what he wore at the Institute when he wasn't garbed in his squad uniform. He had an assortment of shirts and polos that he usually wore over a long-sleeved gray shirt. Tonight he had chosen a light blue tee. Jeans were his customary choice of leg wear, and he preferred he's to have a slightly tight cut, though not as tight as the hipsters in Brooklyn wore. His shoes were a pair of comfortable tan Sketchers , with thick soles suited for walking around the city. His look wasn't complete without his brown sports coat and black, leather fedora.
Ray's iPhone had buzzed during his dinner with Mirror, and it was Shade with one of his slightly incoherent text messages:
'yo r u comin to the city im waitin by the a train on 34th'
Ray had promised Shade awhile ago that he would come with him and the others for a night on the city, but he was with Mirror, and he wasn't sure if she wanted to come along. She agreed though, not surprisingly. Her outgoing nature was pretty unmatched, at least as far as Ray was concerned.
Ray walked beside Mirror down 34th Street towards Penn Station, where Shade had said he was waiting. As they approached, he saw two figures that could only be Shade and Black Rose. He smiled slightly as they walked within earshot, and he could see Sin approaching close by.
As he heard her exaggerated entrance, Ray raised his brow. "Really?" He said flatly. "Stealing Gambit's lines now, Sin?"

The city was still a big change for Mirror. She had been at the Institute for some years now, but she only really went down into the city with Ray, and she had been nervous to ask him to take her up until last year. Their monthly ventures were still a recent thing. She was relieved when she finally asked him and he agreed; as much as she missed home, she did love the city and all its wonders.
She had stressed for near an hour about what she was going to wear, as she always did. Ray kept telling her she looked great no matter what she wore, but she still stressed about it. In the end, though, she settled for something simple. She picked out her favorite short-sleeved top and one of her jean skirts. Ray had warned her about walking around in heels, so she put on a pair of flat-soled shoes. She finished her wardrobe with some light make-up and a ponytail.
When Ray surprised her with the nice Italian restaurant, she complained about being underdressed, but Ray laughed and told her it was fine. He always took her to a different restaurant each time they went into the city, and she never knew what cuisine to expect. She thought it was sweet he planned it that way. Beneath that rocky exterior was a sweetheart, she'd joke.
When Shade texted Ray as they were close to finishing their meal, Ray had asked her if she wouldn't mind hanging out with his squad for the night.
"Whatever you want, hun." She'd said. She had met the Misfits a few times, and liked Black Rose a lot, but she didn't know the others all that well. Though, she did find Shade to be silly and egotistical, though that wasn't very surprising with the stories Ray would tell her.
Mirror had her arm around Ray's as they walked down 34th Street towards where the rest of the Misfits were apparently waiting. She had her head resting on his shoulder as she took in the pretty lights on all the buildings around her. They reflected off her silver eyes and Ray had given her a smile. She smiled back, with nothing else said.
She pushed her head up as they approached Ray's squad. They joked about her and Ray's relationship, and while it was clearly obvious, she respected Ray's want for privacy. Sometimes she felt they should, too.
She saw Shade standing with Rose, and when the second girl approached, she could only assume it was Sin. She giggled when Sin gave an exaggerated pose and announced her arrival. She responded to Ray's comment with a little slap on the arm.
"Oh, shhh." She teased. "I think it's cute." She turned to the others and gave a big wave. "Hi!" She exclaimed with a big, happy smile.

"hey guys," said Kole as they entered "whats up Mirror, Sin excellent entrance as always. " Kole didn't really know Mirror that well, aside form what little Geo had said and what he noticed while walking past her in the hall. All he knew was she was on the wayfarers, but she seem cool enough. "Me and Rose where just talking about this bar we heard about called the Rogue Hand it sounds pretty cool you guys wanna check it out later?"

Kat opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by Sin's dramatic entrance. She smirked and shook her head a little, giving her friend a an amused but wry look.
"Hello, Pride, how're you?" she teased. She smiled at Geo and Mirror. Noting the placement of their arms. She really didn't understand why they were going about this all the way they were. It drove her a little nuts to see her friends acting so oddly without understanding the reasons behind it. If it was supposed to be a secret that they were completely obsessed with each other, they weren't very good at keeping secrets. Which was ridiculous, because side from them both being pretty private people in general, their powers were designed to keep people from seeing inside. You can't see through rock and mirrors only reflected whatever was looking at them. It didn't matter, she supposed, as long as her friends were happy, and they did seem to be. It was still odd for her sometimes that she couldn't check. She didn't really enjoy using her powers on her friends but occasionally she couldn't help but make little check-ins on their overall emotional states. Part of it was nosiness, but they were also her team. It was important to know where everyone was at at any given point. But she could never really check with Geo. Oddly, it wasn't his powers that kept her from reading him properly, it was his nature.
Regardless, she couldn't keep the knowing smirk from her lips as Kole caught everyone up on what they'd been talking about.
"Rose and I," Kat corrected Kole's grammar habitually. Honestly, it wasn't so much an attempt to nag or berate as it was a habit, maybe even a tic. She'd grown up being corrected and correcting back because grammar was important in her house. Her mother believed very strongly that if one was going to bother speaking that they should speak correctly and clearly. Clearly, she sometimes had a problem with due to her wacky neurology. But, correctly? Correctly she could do. Most of the time people either ignored her corrections or adjusted their speech accordingly. Sometimes people got annoyed about it. Kole had a tendency to try to shove her correction back into her face, she assumed out of annoyance. But even if she wanted to stop doing it, she was fairly certain it was ingrained into her habits in a very Pavlovian way.
"I still say it sounds more like a casino...but there might be a bar there? I guess it's worth checking out at least." She shrugged a little, clearly still in a better mood than usual. [/blockquote]

"I'm doing quite alright Rose."
Angel chuckled at the reactions, enjoying the atmosphere. And as if on cue, there was Geo and his flat disbelief.
"Don't hate, Geo."
She wished he'd loosen up, but with Mirror present, she figured it was going to be a bit before he did. As for his companion, she'd only talked to her a handful of times in passing but anyone willing to encourage shenanigans on this night was cool in her book. The strong 'Hi' didn't hurt either.
"Sup. You're Victoria, right? Nice to meet you."
She shot Shade a quick nod, acknowledging she'd heard his greeting and listened as plans were made. Nothing killed her energy like too much planning.
"Well, let's head toward The Rogue Hand. If we find something more interesting on the way, we can do that and if not there's still the not-casino/bar/thing."

Ray laughed at Sin's dismissal of his comment. She was the most outspoken of the group, and Ray had learned to enjoy her exaggerations and outbursts. That didn't stop him from commenting on it, though.
He also caught the glances they had given each other when he approached with Mirror. It was true that it wasn't much of a secret to them, the nature of his relationship with Mirror. Still, though, they had chosen to keep it quiet for a reason, and none of them bothered to pry too much. He assumed Rose had tried to read something, but reading Mirror was impossible with her power and Ray had an 'emotional brick wall' as Rose would say.
Ray gave Mirror a look before shrugging and turning back to his friends. "We didn't really have any plans after dinner, so I don't care. Sounds fun, I guess."

The glances the three gave each other didn't escape Mirror's eyes. She knew it was probably silly to keep her relationship with Ray a secret, as these three clearly knew what was really going on. Still, they had talked about it, and they weren't ready to say anything yet. Officially, anyway.
Mirror smiled warmly at Sin when she greeted her. Ray had spoken about Sin a bit, but not all that much. She gave a nod. "Mmh!" She said. "Nice to meet you too! You can call me Mirror if you want, or Vicky. I don't mind."
She turned to Shade at the mention of The Rouge Hand. She returned Ray's look and waited until he replied, before she spoke. "Ooh! I've never been to a casino or a fancy bar like that before!" She explained, with her distinctive Midwest accent. "They don't have anything like that back home."
