Shade dispelled his tonfa and allowed the shadow to return to his feet then turned to the rest and said "then its decided we will all grab a bite to eat and then well do something fun!" he grabbed the three of them and said "Ill drive" then teleported the lot of them to the cafeteria. as he felt the familiar chill of the shadow plain, if for only a moment. Then he along with the rest of his team emerged near the beginning of the line for food in the cafeteria. "and here we are."

Kat opened her mouth to respond, likely to protest, but before she had the chance to do more than part her lips, she felt the deep bone-chilling cold that seemed to grasp at her very soul that she had felt a few times before.
Shade knew better, he had to know better after all these years, that Kat was not keep on his method of transportation. In a fight, in a life or death situation, for strategic purposes, during a mission, these were forgivable instances in which she would not complain about being forced in and out of the shadow plain. Unannounced, unsolicited and to the purpose of going from the lakeside to the cafeteria? No.
Kat gasped sharply as panic gripped at her chest tightly. When she was younger and less experienced, her anxiety could be crippling. Her body would shut down. With an excessive amount of training and various strange experiences over the years, her reaction to such attacks had altered. She remained more or less without control of her limbs, but instead of freezing, they now lashed out to punish the source of her anxiety.
One tonfa was in her hand within nanoseconds, gripped tightly as she aimed a strike directly for Kole's genitals. She barely missed as Kole saw the readying movements of her attack and pulled his pelvis back and away, causing the forceful blow to strike him sideways in the knee instead of its intended target.
Kat sat rigidly, holding the attack position as she tried to slow her breathing to normal and redistribute her personal energies to warm the biting cold she could still feel internally. [/blockquote]

Angel gasped shrilly as the cold of the shadow plane took her breath away. She hated travelling this way, especially without warning. Something about the coldness of the shadow plane scared her, how unnatural it felt and how easy it was to just accept whatever was going on. She mused for a moment on how hazy the cold made everything and how easily it crawled along her skin. Angel frowned, trying to do anything to make herself warm. She closed her eyes and took a deep, shuddering breath. This wasn't her fault. She focused on stupid on how Kole was for doing this. She focused on the fact that if he had just said they were teleporting, she wouldn't be fighting her own emotions.
"Kole, what the hell planet do you come from that made you think that was a good idea?!"
Her cheeks flushed with anger and the pins and needles of the receding cold was pissing her off worse by the second. She stared at him angrily, trying to figure out if trying to punch him in the mouth was worth it.

Ray felt the cold of the shadow plane pierce his spine as Shade brought them to the cafeteria. He shut his eyes and inhaled, bracing himself for the inevitable. Ray had gotten used to teleporting; Shade would often decide to teleport them back to their room instead of walking like a normal - as normal as they could be - person.
When they emerged from the shadow, Ray exhaled. He gathered his thoughts and waited for the cold to release his body. When he opened his eyes, he saw Rose narrowly miss Shade's crotch. He turned to see Sin flare in anger and stare Shade down. Ray cursed to himself.
Damnit.
Ray immediately stepped between Shade and the two girls and held out his arms. As he did, there was a familiar sound as Ray's skin became covered in a tan rock-like substance. His brown hair darkened to a cool black, and his eyes illuminated a bright yellow.
"Calm down." He ordered to Sin. "This is not the place for that, so knock it off."
He gave Sin a knowing gaze; she couldn't hope to get past him in rockform. Not without some serious wrath energy, anyway. Ray then turned his attention to Shade, and stuck his finger in his face.
"Don't do that again." He scolded firmly.
Finally, Ray moved to Rose and took her by the wrists. "Hey, calm down." He assured. "It's over."

Kole rubbed his knee as he got in line for some food a she grabbed a tray he said "You know I don't see why the two of you freak out so much when I do that, and I did say "ill drive" what did you think was ganna happen." Kole passed over the salad section and picked up some fries, a chicken tryyaki flat bread sandwich and a hamburger "Honestly on a real mission I may not have the chance to give you any warning at all, you may be fighting someone one second then be in the shadow realm the next. Your ganna have to get use to the feeling eventually, hell" he padded Geo on the back "Geo already has."

After her automatic response, she was already starting to calm down. She just needed to focus on her breathing. When she felt the familiar coolness of Ray's hands in rock form on her wrists, it definitely helped. She took a particularly deep breath and exhaled slowly before looking up at Geo's face, smiling at him thankfully and as reassuringly as she could. She gave him a little nod.
"I'm okay...thanks." She hated feeling helpless, but was glad she had friends like Ray who cared enough without pitying her. Unlike Kole, who she glared at as she leaned on Ray's arm to stand. "Yeah, and you've done it during missions and shit and I'm fine Because in a situation like that I'm always prepared for it. Because that's when it's appropriate." She took another deep breath and shook her head. "When are you going to learn to be considerate of your teammates, Kole?" She shot him another dirty look before turning to grab herself a tray. She put herself together a small salad and one of those little things of tuna. She focused on keeping her irritation under control, lest she slip up and fuel Angel, who was already angry enough for Kat to feel it pretty soundly with only her peripheral awareness of the emotions around her active.
"And a general tip? Just because people are used to something wrong doesn't make it right. Being mutant is a perfect example of that. There are plenty of students and faculty alike in this very building who are more than used to being unappreciated, hated, even outright attacked, that doesn't make the people who do those things right, it didn't make their behaviour acceptable. And," she added quickly. "Before you say anything, I'm not saying you pulling us into that...that place is as bad as anti-mutant sentiment, it's just an example of what I'm talking about." She generally felt that the only way to get through to Kole was to use extremes, he just didn't respond to anything else. Though, to be honest, Kole responding to advice or instruction was generally hit or miss.

Angel's glare centered on Ray for a moment, annoyed that he immediately protected Kole. He seemed to wait an extra moment and she rolled her eyes. Kole deserved some kind of punishment but she wasn't sure if she was willing to fight Ray for it.
"I'll try to seethe quieter."
She suppressed a chuckle as Ray turned to chastise Kole, so she gave Kat the once over. As much as she wanted to go and comfort her, she knew that her anger might push them both back over the edge. She leaned against the wall for the moment, looking to see if anyone else was in the line.
Her eyes flicked to Kole, who ignorantly shrugged the situation off. She took another deep breath, trying to calm her temper. Getting food after Kat, she settled on a salad and a hamburger. Settling in with the others, she did her best to keep her 'you're a dick' comments to herself.

Ray released his grip on Rose and waited for Sin to calm down before reverting back to his human form. He watched as they each went to grab their food, then sighed and followed.
He grabbed a tray and took a large plate of hot wings with blue cheese, some fries, and a root beer. He sat down next to Shade and could tell that both Rose and Sin were restraining themselves from further berating Shade.
The truth was that Shade really only listened to Ray when things came down to it. Sure, Rose tried but unless she used some form of extreme analogy, Shade didn't listen. Ray seemed to be able to get him to understand, at least more than Rose and certainly more than Sin. She was more likely to call him a 'dick' or punch him in the jaw.
Ray took a bite of one of his wings, then addressed the others. "We've got a Danger Room session tomorrow, remember. We don't need to be upset with each other and risk a bad performance."

as useaul kat is being dramatic comparing me saving them a ten minute walk to a hate crime thought shade
once they all sat down and Geo reminded them of there danger room session Shade asked "Who do you think will be running it for us?" the reason he ask was you could usually tell what you were in for, Nightcrawler usually went for obstacle courses, while if we got cyclops we were ganna have to fight a sentinel or two but god forbid we got Logan he usually just slowly cranked up the difficulty setting until the whole team was captured or unconscious "God I hope its not Logan."

Unfortunately, she was used to Kole's behaviour, so it was, in fact, pushed to a simple annoyance as opposed to the serious anger that Angel was clearly still under the influence of. She shrugged it off. Just earlier, she'd been thinking about the danger room session they had scheduled.
"I know they're harder, but really, there's something to be said for Mr. Logan's sessions. It's not like our enemies are going to go easy on us. And his scenarios are varied, less predictable." [/blockquote]

"I dunno, when's the last time they tested our 'unit cohesion'? "
Angel focused on the conversation at hand and her food, using the sensations to chain her temper down. She despised the danger room, but respected the overall concept. She wasn't as athletic as the others, finding it easier to expend herself in an actual fight. Still, training had it's purpose so she didn't gripe about it often.

"That's the whole point of the Danger Room, Sin, to learn unit cohesion." Ray commented, finishing a wing. "And that little stunt back there doesn't help matters, Shade. You know it upsets them."
It was true that Logan, or Wolverine as he was known, ran the most trying and dangerous sessions, but they were probably the best. A real battle wouldn't be any less difficult or dangerous and what better way to learn teamwork than to be pit against whatever Logan came up with for that particular day? Rumor had it that he never ran the same simulation twice, and Ray was starting to believe it.
"Well, we're in luck, it is Wolverine." Ray stated casually, then looked up and flashed a sarcastic grin at Shade. "Sorry, Shade."

"Awesome" Shade responded to Geo (with a level of sarcasm previously unbeknownst to this world)
"I mean, I understand that we learn way more from Logan's sessions than any of the others, but that doesn't offer much solace while getting bitch slapped around the room by 12 sentinels and the juggernaut. last time Logan ran one of our sessions we were all sore for month."
Shade looked up from his half finish food at his team mates rose had calmed down, Geo was unsurprisingly stoic but sin was still barely keeping it together. Kole started instinctively planing how to deal with her if she attacked. she would probably try to reach over the table to hit him, if she did he would hook her leg with his under the table forcing her back in to her seat. Then he would meld in to shadow and get behind her And teleport her two miles out side the front gate ...... a half hour walk alone along a forest road should be enough for her to calm down.
then he noticed that Rose only took a urine sample sized salad after eating nothing all day " Rose is that all your ganna eat?"

Kat frowned a little bit at Angel. She reached out to touch her friend's arm, projecting soothing emotions and a general feeling of it not being a big deal. She was better at focusing her empathy on individuals than she used to be, but there was still always some bleeding out of projected emotion. She figured serenity was an ok emotion for everyone to feel, though, so she wasn't worried about it leaking to the others.
At Kole's comment, Kat looked down at her food and back at him with a look of honest confusion.
"It's a salad and sushi......Sushi's filling....it's got rice...." That's why she'd picked it. She never finished normal sized salads and she loved sushi. If she was still hungry, she'd get more sushi. What was wrong with that? [/blockquote]

Angel closed her eyes and greedily drank in the serenity, shuddering as the last sputters of wrath died down. It was always harder to let things go when she had been spooked into reaction. She made a note to talk to Ms. Frost about emotional compartmentalization in the next class, it would probably be massively helpful in situations like this.
She heard Kat weakly try to explain her food choice and chuckled to herself.
"Hon, I think I can safely say we're more worried about the consistency of your eating schedule rather than what you pick."
