Shade does not really talk much other than if he is spoken to or to crack a joke. He enjoys overcoming challenges.

Darkforce Projection: Shade can project the Darkforce into mentally controlled forms such as pincers, rings, columns, spheres, and so on. He can form objects with a maximum density of 44 pounds per cubic inch, and resistance to concussive forces of up to 80 pounds per square inch (125 pounds of TNT at 20 feet). He can form objects with a maximum volume of approximately 187 cubic feet, sufficient to encompass 2 human beings comfortably. These objects are solid and well defined while He consciously wills them to be. If he rendered unconscious, they dissipate. He can also project a beam of solid force, capable of impacting an object with sufficient power to deal damage to lightly armored opponents.

Darkforce Teleportation: Shade can teleport by entering the Darkforce dimension, moving a short distance within it and emerging back on Earth a great distance from his point of origin. A span of miles on Earth can be traversed in only a few steps via shortcuts through the Darkforce. Shade can teleport other persons or objects along with himself in this fashion as well.

Shadow Form: Shade possesses the ability to physically merge his body with his shadow. Once done he looks darker in appearance, black or shadowy looking. While in this form he is intangible and has the abillity to flatten his form in order to hid within other shadows.

History;; Shades powers first developed when he was 13 while fighting with his mom. He pointed at her and started yelling then his shadow extended toward her and she fell into it, melding into the floor and vanishing. He was so shocked that he calmed down and she retuned. She was only gone for a few moments but what she described was more like several hours. Mr. Nightcrawler later explained that Shade had accidentally sent her to a shadow demi plane and there very well could have been a time difference between our two worlds, so that what was only a few seconds for Shade was in fact several hours for her.

Needless to say that did not improve our relationship and he soon four himself on the street stealing food to survive. Shade was on his own for almost two months before a local gang herd about him and his powers and thought he could be useful to them. so they took him in. for a few months the just had him doing basic stuff, stealing or distracting someone while someone else stole. But then they started asking him to use his powers to hurt people, now hurting someone in a fight is one thing but they wanted him to break to someones house and send them to the shadow plane while they slept.

When Shade said no they started chasing him threatening that if he didn't do it they would have to kill him to keep him from snitching on them. so Shade ran and they followed and he ran some more and they still followed until he realized that the only way this was going to end was either he did what they want or he would have to stand and fight. so he stopped running turned and yelled "you wanna see me use my power? YOU GOT IT!!" and just as he reached for his power to use it to dispatch his would be killers all five of them just froze he figured they were stunned by the that he would face them alone so he began to strike when he heard a voice say "hold on now, I have disabled your attackers they are no threat to you."

He turned to see a man in a wheel chair escorted by a man with red sunglasses and thought "why couldn't you stop them a few blocks back and save me the effort" the the man in the wheel chair said " I could have but I wanted to see what choice you would make, we are after all defined by our choices. I wanted to know if you take the easy route or would you fight for what you believe in, I am most pleased by your choice." Shade replied " glad you had a good time, and you are?" "Charles Xavier" said the man "I'll be your new head master and this is Scott Summers he will be one of you teachers." then Shade said "wait a minute why would I come with you?" Scott smiled and said "a warm bed three hot meals a day and the chance to master those powers that you are so afraid of." Shade thought for a moment then asked " and what do you want in return?" "all I ask is that you continue to make decisions the way you did today." said Xavier "thats it?" Shade asked "thats it." he replied so Shade said "sounds good to me when do we leave?"
