The year is 2011. It has been 5 years since the latest defeat of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and 10 years since the veto of the Mutant Registration Act. In Westchester County, New York, Professor Charles Xavier is Headmaster of the Xavier Institute of Higher Learning, a school for the truly gifted. Here, mutants of all ages seek academic knowledge and understanding of their mutant abilities. It is also the home of the X-Men, a group of elite and powerful mutants dedicated to protecting humans and mutants alike from any threat – even from their own kind.
Peace has overtaken the globe.
For now.
The memory of the Brotherhood and its enigmatic and powerful leader, Magneto, still casts a feint shadow on the world. And, with no sighting of Brotherhood activity in years, the X-Men can only wonder: have they truly been defeated?
