GENERAL RULES

ONE
Mature content is not permitted in accordance with the policies of Proboards. Don't get us shut down or I will find you.

TWO
If you have a problem with another player, out of character drama, that’s fine. If you want to fight about it that’s fine too, but not in my house. Take it outside. AIM, Emails, fisticuffs, twenty paces and dawn, I don’t care but it doesn’t belong in the c box or anywhere else on the site.

THREE
We don’t think it’s realistic or fair to demand that you post a specific number of times in a specific time period or else, you’ve got lives (hopefully) and that’s cool. However, we can’t have players disappearing and leaving their fellow roleplayers high and dry willy nilly. We won’t have a site full of dead accounts. If you’re going to be too busy to post, somewhere without internet, without a muse for a while, leave a note on the absentee board. Every so often we’ll be doing random activity sweeps. You’ll get a warning by email but if there’s still no activity for a while and no post on the absentee board then we’ll be forced to delete your account. Nobody wants that.

FOUR
Respect. Respect for your fellow players. Respect for the administrators. Please show you’ve got some class. Especially when dealing with the admins. We’re here to help, really. We don’t want to argue or punish or any of that negative stuff. So please just try to keep your head on straight, we’m doing our best to keep the site running smoothly.

FIVE
We totally understand that life gets in the way of roleplaying sometimes. Real life > RP any day! But it's kind of lame to have someone sign up and then just flake and leave us time after time. Just make sure you have the ability to make some kind of commitment to Earth I0I if you're going to join, and you're not just using us as a last resort because everything else is dead, yeah? It's just wasting everyone's time if you're site jumping, and it's kind of rude.

SIX
All private matters between the admins and individual members are just that, private. Please do not involve the entire site in any matters that should be dealt with in a more one-on-one fashion. The Cbox is not the place to air concerns or grievances, it is a place to relax and chat with friends in a pleasant environment. The administrators' email address and AIM screenname are displayed publicly in their staff character profiles. Feel free to make use of them. It's also not the admins' jobs to seek you out to contact you; if you have something to discuss, YOU should contact THEM. Again, it’s about respect.


WHEN APPLYING

ONE
Once your application is finished, the admins will look it over, decide if it meets the standards we’re looking for, make sure there’s no evidence that you didn’t read the rules and accept it if it’s satisfactory. If there’s something wrong, missing, confusing, etc. We’ll PM you with questions, clarifications and suggestions.

TWO
Make a new thread in Pending Applications for your app with your character’s name as the subject. Nothing fancy, please. Just the name.

THREE
I’m a stickler for spelling and grammar. It’s very important. PLEASE proofread your application before posting it. If you’re still not sure, I’m sure a friend would be willing to read it over for you.

FOUR
After you have posted your application, post in the claims board! If you don't, you can't start playing.

FIVE
Keep the plot in mind. This site takes place in an alternate reality that the administrators have created. Things are going to be different than they are in the comic books and they are going to be VERY different from the films or cartoons because we're drawing our inspiration from the COMICS. PLEASE IGNORE FILM CONTINUITY, IT HAS NO PLACE HERE.

SIX
In order to keep things simple, we are going to ask that ONLY XAVIER INSTITIUTE STAFF (and any canon we put on the canon list) MAY BE CANON CHARACTERS FROM THE MARVEL UNIVERSE. ALL STUDENTS AND OTHER CHARACTERS MUST BE ORIGINAL. And let's face it, the admins are geeks of the highest degree, we're going to be VERY picky about anyone trying to play a canon character. Understand that canon characters will be under special scrutiny.

SEVEN
We will not be listing canon characters as adoptable. Instead, if you would like to play a canon character who will teach at the school, ask for an admin the c box and/or PM one of the Staff Members listed on the sidebar. Tell them who you would like to play, what they would teach and why. The staff will then discuss the matter and you will either be given permission to fill out an app or denied. Please don't argue if you're denied, it will only make us LESS likely to want to give you special privileges.

EIGHT
If you want to make a character who is a member of the Brotherhood of Mutants, at this point in time we will ask that you follow the same procedure described in rule seven, as the Brotherhood's whereabouts and plans are still a secret.

NINE
In the spirit of continuity and keeping things regulated, we'd like everyone to use real life Played-Bys. Actors/actresses, celebrities, models, people like that. No characters from cartoons or comics, please.

TEN
We won't have any specific regulations about the size of your signature, but PLEASE don't stretch our boards! Thank you. (Usually a width of 600 px is good but more than that is pushing it.)

ELEVEN
Please don't do that thing where you add graphics and images and weird sparkly things to all of your posts. That stuff is fine for apps and plot pages and things like that, but it's really annoying in just regular posts in a thread. It's not cute, it's irritating.

WHEN ROLEPLAYING

ONE
All roleplaying is to be written in third person past tense. That's what people are most familiar with, and this is a paragraph-style roleplay. So just keep things simple!

TWO
Godmoding and powerplaying! Don't do it. For a little more information on what these things are, have a look at POWERGAMING and GODMODING. Additionally, remember to not blurr the In Character/Out Of Character line when it comes to player/character knowledge!
